The exhibit, which includes various media, including
watercolor, oils, and photography, also celebrates the Art Association of
Rutherford’s 62nd anniversary.
The NJMC has hosted the Association’s annual juried show for several years, and these exhibits have included some magnificent works created by artists from the region.
The juried exhibit is the largest annual show for
members of the Rutherford association, which
includes professionals and hobbyists, as well as current and former art
teachers. Members of the group meet monthly at Rutherford’s Borough Hall for lectures, contests and
museum excursions.
The NJMC created the Flyway Gallery to help foster the artistic and cultural identity of the Meadowlands District by providing a showcase for local talent. Recent exhibits have featured digital media by Carlstadt’s Maria M. Walker, nature paintings by North Bergen resident Lissane Lake, and a children’s art show by members of “Putting the Pieces Together,” a Lyndhurst-based group that supports children with autism and other special needs.
The Flyway Gallery is located inside the Meadowlands Environment Center, at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst. For more information about the exhibit call the MEC at 201-460-8300. Directions to DeKorte Park are located in the “about us” section of the NJMC’s Web site, www.njmeadowlands.gov.
