Want to see the legendary Harrier Meadow but haven't been able to attend one of the Bergen Audubon/Meadowlands Commission Tuesday morning walks?
Do we have a walk for you! By popular demand, we are having a Sunday Harrier Meadow walk this weekend.
The aerial view of Harrier Meadow above (shouldn't all aerial views be above?) was taken late last summer by the Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute.
A blog post on that photography is here. More on MERI is here.
Details on the Sunday Harrier Meadow walk -- and another Harrier Meadow walk on Tuesday, April 22 -- are below.
Sunday, April 11, 10 a.m.
Special Harrier Meadow Bird Walk with BCAS
This
free two-hour guided nature walk will take place at Harrier Meadow in
North Arlington, a 70-acre restored wetlands area typically closed to
the public. The walk meets at the entrance to Harrier Meadow at 10
a.m., or come to the first parking lot at DeKorte by 9:45 a.m. We’ll
walk around the site, looking for spring migrants, waterfowl, raptors
and
other birds. The walk is run by the N.J. Meadowlands Commission and the
Bergen County Audubon Society. You will have to sign a standard
liability release for this trip. To rsvp, contact Don Torino of the
BCAS at [email protected]
